In-Theatre Airsoft

Field Rules and Regulations

Safe Area / Staging Area

The safe area/staging area is clearly marked with yellow tape and located between check-in and the field.

  • No magazines are allowed in replica weapon systems while in the safe/staging areas.

  • All replicas must be safe, clear, and made inert when leaving the field. This means:
    – Remove your magazine
    – Fire a couple of shots in a safe direction to ensure the weapon is unloaded
    – Place the replica on “safe”
    – Attach a barrel blocker

  • No horseplay is allowed in the safe/staging area.

  • No uncovered Airsoft replicas outside the check-in entrance. All replicas must be concealed in a case, bag, or box until inside the designated check-in area.

BIODEGRADABLE PLA BBs ONLY! Do not bring any other BBs to this property. Please leave all non-bio PLA BBs at home.

  • Replicas may not be loaded anywhere except the field. This is a zero-exception policy.

  • Magazines may be loaded with BBs in the safe/staging area, but magazines must not be inserted into replicas.

Respect the Property

Respect the property, the rules, and the neighborhood! Someone was willing to allow us to host a game of Airsoft here. They asked the neighbors if it was okay, and it will stay okay if we are all respectful.

First Rule

Don’t get hurt. Play at your own level and ability. Respect your limitations.

“REAL LIFE”

If someone is hurt to a degree that they need help leaving the field, call out loudly “REAL LIFE.” Any player who hears this signal must stop playing, take a knee, and immediately repeat/echo the call “REAL LIFE” until all players cease activity. The game comes to an absolute stop when you hear “REAL LIFE.” Field staff will provide first aid if needed.

“GAME ON”

Return to play will begin when the referee announces “GAME ON.” All players should echo “GAME ON” before continuing play.

Eye and Face Protection

  • Fully sealed ANSI-approved goggle systems must be used in areas of play or chronograph areas.

  • You may use paintball goggle/mask systems or approved Airsoft goggles that meet or exceed ASTM standards.

  • lower face protection by a mask system, (wire mesh hard plastic) to prevent injuries or penetration of BB’s is Mandatory for players under 18 and recommended for all.

  • All eye protection and face coverings are subject to a safety inspection by field administration.

“BLIND MAN”

If you cannot see for any reason, leave the field with your face protection on. Raise your hands or replica in the air, calling out “DEAD MAN” while walking to exit the field. Once in the safe area, you may remove your eye protection to fix the issue. When your eye protection is functional and in place, return to your respective spawn (game mode permitting).

If you see anyone remove their eye protection on the field, call out loudly “BLIND MAN.” Any player who hears “BLIND MAN” must stop playing, take a knee, and repeat “BLIND MAN” until all players cease activity. The game mode absolutely stops when you hear “BLIND MAN.”

Return to play will begin when the referee announces “GAME ON.” All players should echo “GAME ON” before continuing play.

Airsoft is a Game

Everyone here is on the same team, literally. This is a scrimmage.

We are all here to play a game of honor and have fun. The only competition here is who can follow the rules of Airsoft the best — That would makes you the best Airsoft player. You are not competing against anything or anyone except yourself.

That means if you think there might be even the smallest possibility a BB hit you, immediately call out loudly “HIT,” raise your hands or replica in the air, and proceed with the rules of the game for a hit player.

Honor Code

  • Call your hits out loud!

  • Raise your hands or replica in the air.

  • Once you are hit, call out “DEAD MAN” while moving out of the line of fire immediately. If you don’t, you will continue to get shot.

  • Hit players don’t talk.

  • Do not use hit players or referees as cover.

  • Do not shoot players with their hands or replicas in the air.

  • Wearing a dead rag is advised. Respect the dead rag.

Dead Men Don’t Talk

Dead players don’t talk. Once hit, call out “DEAD MAN” while moving quickly to respawn, staying out of the line of fire. Do not communicate to other players or attempt to give away any information.

The only exception is if the game mode involves “wounded.” For example, in a “Medic” game, you may communicate as the mode permits.

No Blind Fire

Do not blind fire. You must be able to clearly look down your barrel to identify your target and what’s behind it. (The one exception is if you are running proper round count magazines for your replica. “RunProper”)

Don’t Call Other Players’ Hits

If you see someone not calling their hits, note identifying details (face pro, shirt color, pants, patches, etc.) and inform a referee. Do not call other players’ hits. Do not argue with other players.

Be proactive. Don’t complain or badmouth people. Use your energy to talk to a referee so we can make the best game possible as quickly as possible.

Don’t Move, Break, or Alter the Playing Field

Do not move, alter, or climb over obstacles on the field. If you break something, or make something unusable, you will be responsible for the cost. Please inform the referee immediately.

Field Referee

All decisions made by the field referee are final. Anyone arguing with the referee will be asked to leave with no refund.

Language and Behavior

  • No directed profanity, offensive, or aggressive language. Violators will be asked to leave with no refund.

  • Absolutely no fighting. Zero tolerance. Any player involved in a physical altercation will be asked to leave and permanently banned, with no refund.

This is a game. We are here to have fun!

Replica Safety / Safe Area

“Treat all replicas as if they are real and loaded at all times.”

  • All replicas must be cleared before leaving the field. Remove the magazine and fire several shots in a safe direction to ensure the weapon is empty.

  • Safety engaged, magazine removed, barrel blocking device attached.

  • In safe/non-play areas, all replicas must have the safety engaged.

  • All replicas must remain concealed in a case, bag, or box while leaving and entering the premises.

Real Weapons

NO REAL WEAPONS ARE PERMITTED.

Anyone found with a real weapon on or around the field will be asked to leave with no refund and permanently banned.

Lasers

No lasers of any color or IR spectrum are allowed. “Tape them if you got them.”

Melee Weapons

All melee weapons must be approved by the referee. This includes rubber knives, foam weapons, lightsabers, etc.

  • Melee kills are gentle taps.

  • If you are melee killed, raise your hands and silently proceed without giving away enemy positions.

  • This is the only time you do not verbally call “HIT.”

Grenades

  • BB-expelling grenades: 15 ft. kill radius.

  • Non-BB grenades: distraction only.

  • Smoke: allowed if field and season permit.

Minimum Engagement Distance

Your chrono tag determines your minimum engagement distance. Do not shoot at players closer than your chrono tag allows. Violators will be dismissed from the field with no refund.

Chronograph and BB Rules

  • All replicas must be chrono-tested and tagged with field-provided 0.20g BB’s before play.

  • Only biodegradable 0.20–0.43g BB’s provided by the field are permitted.

  • Do not bring other BB’s out of your vehicle.

  • Only field-provided BB’s are permitted in the safe area or on the field.

Gun Hits and Ricochets

  • Gun hits don’t count as hits. If your replica is hit, it is down/inoperable. you can switch to your secondary, or melee weapon.

  • if you are hit by a ricochet off your replica call “HIT”

  • Ricochets count as hits. Do not attempt to bounce shots intentionally.

Playing Dead

Do not play dead or misrepresent your status unless the game mode calls for it. Do not switch sides unless directed by a referee.

Spawn and Spawn Camping

  • Spawns are clearly marked with PVC hoops

  • 15 ft. radius around spawns must be observed. Players entering that radius are considered re-spawned.

  • Do not shoot into spawns.

  • If you get so close you could shoot into a spawn, you will likely be seen by other player and they can shout at you from inside of there spawn.

FPS Rules:

*All FPS IS MEASURED WITH .20g BB’s HOP UP OFF BY FIELD ADMIN.*

We regulate kinetic energy (Joules), not just FPS, to keep the game fair and safe. Joules measure how much energy your gun delivers, based on both the BB weight and the speed (FPS). For example, if your airsoft gun shoots 400 FPS with a 0.20g BB, that equals about 1.49 joules of energy. If you switch to a heavier 0.28g BB, the gun will shoot slower—around 240 FPS—but still produce the same 1.49 joules of energy.

This matters because heavier BBs fly slower but carry the same impact energy. That’s why we check for “joule creep” and make sure all guns stay within the set joule limits, no matter what BB weight you use.

In short: you can change BB weights, but you cannot exceed the maximum joule limit.

Full-Auto is Allowed if you are running:

  1. A true squad automatic weapon (SAW) replica (e.g., M249, PKM, RPK, MG36) that is designed for sustained automatic fire, OR

  2. A rifle or carbine with 30-round magazines, using realistic round counts and staying within the field’s RPS (Rounds Per Second) limit.

  • Semi-Auto Only:
All other weapon platforms (e.g., assault rifles, SMGs, DMRs) must fire on semi-automatic only.

  • Rate Of Fire, ROF. If your ROF exceeds 25rps, You may Not shoot auto in games at other players AT ALL .
